I don't even know what my own car ran anymore!

Google away all you like for all I care

Real world is where its at.

Oh the figures I got on the R32's are off forums with timeslips.

Even if you goggled away for facts & figures on a VS GTS it will say 215kw at the engine.

Then explain how my friends bone stock VS GTS made 197rwkws & also ran MPH to prove it!

My stock VN ran 14.8@ high 90'smph on very crappy & hard Bridgestone tyres which obviously had wheel spin.

This was before it had the VL turbo diff. gears fitted too! Not bad for a 300+K stock smelly V8

From the figures I can find on stock R32's. its about the same!

How far has a VW all out performance road car come since my 90 model crappy VN!

I don't think your Mk2 would stand up to it either sorry.

My mk1 gti modded NA 1.8L with approx 120-130hp only ran a 15.8@84?mph. I don't think an aussie spec let alone a UK spec mk2 8V would get near it either.

I've ran remapped Mk5 gti's in the crummydore & stay with them without breaking a sweat with the A/C on & in blue "D" (overdrive)

Polo GTI's are a whole different story though. They suck the paint of anything & everything & have some bare patches on the VN front bumper to prove the theory!
I know you dont talk crap man but there must be something magic in your VN.
My mates VS's and VN's (all autos with slight mods if that makes a difference) have never been able to go lower than 15-16 sec at calder.

Ive ran a few different P plated 5L and the 2L mk2 was always about a car lenght in front, ofcorse this wasnt over 400m. They also seem to get beat downs by corolas, integras, crx's, xr6's even VP 3.8s with mini spools etc..

I dont doubt your facts but i just find it hard to belive. I know the r32 could be faster but surly it cant be as slow as a stock 5L.

I dont belive that the mk4 r32 is suposta be an all out performance road car either. Im sure something that was made to be all out performance like the mk2 G60 limited would smack most cars around but cars like that arnt economically viable.

How far has VW road car come since a 90s commodore? Well, it makes more power with a smaller engine, looks stacks better and comes with sexy recaros.....LOL

i know VW's are all slow, especially the polo etc etc etc. and i dont strut around blathering about how awesome my car is or anything to my mates, but.....

a chipped polo tdi will NEVER hold a candle to any .:R car. plain and simple.

on the drive up to baw baw, i was fashionably late and saw a guy in a VS SS heading up the hill, just as i was about to give up and head back to melbourne.

with stock, crappy brakes and horrible stock suspension [my car], it was like holding the guy's face with my left hand, and spanking the crap outta it with my right. i could tell he was pushing it- back end was slipping in the tighter corners, and the telltale puff of smoke would come every so often when he planted it on the straighter bits. but the guy didnt stand a chance, to the point that i got bored and did a u-turn to head back down hill.

VS versus an .:R on the track? dunno about that one...

p.s. not calling anyone out on their experience or anything, and yes im a driving kook in a polo who loves it to death even though its a diesel.

I work on them for a living & have probably driven more later mode - current VW's than the entire vww forum put together!

So I only "just" have alittle bit of an idea about what they are like

Rather strongly on both seeings as you asked...but this is an R: thread...so unless it's clubbies and Mk4's it's a old argument that will go nowhere.

Either that or something magic in his water.

My suggestion to golfworx is that if he wants to talk Commodores, then go and do it on a Holden forum!
That is as politely as I can put it.

Actually my vote is the MKV, and nothing gives me more wood than thinking of sticking a 3.0 TDI into an R. The MK4 is indeed nice, but if I was buying tomorrow it'd be a MKV.

Golfworx must have one of Brockies Polarisers?

    Don't go there man.

I don't think he wants to talk Commodores or rubish VW enthusiasts. Althought he comes off a bit ruff sometimes all he realy provides are facts when comparing cars, he also likes to point out that Holdens arnt as shiz as people think and VW arnt as fantastic as people think.

When it realy comes down to it VW and Holden arent in direct competition with eachother so comparing the two is like comparing apples with bananas.

I love the sound of the MkV DSG with the flappy bit mod. I was not a fan of VW's until I saw the MkV R32.

As for looks, none of them stand out enough stock, all need a bit of trickery to make the most of it. Mk6 R looks disappointing, too similar to the GTI.
