I ended up driving from Brisbane to the GC today via Mt Tambourine. The Pac Mway was bumper to bumper so I took the excuse for the scenic detour and time spent in Race Mode.

Very nice.
I know what you mean about wildlife. Years ago on the south coast I saw an MX5 that had hit a wombat dead on in a 80kmh zone at night. Not pretty. I think the car had more damage...
My daily has a few twisties in it, but it's over within a couple of minutes. Odd, not the first time I've heard that...
Warburton to Marysville is awesome.

As epic as it gets, nice cool mountain air as well!
Glenorie > St Albans (via Webbs Ck & St Albans Rd) https://goo.gl/maps/NfqwBhjpDLk
The Ferry > St Albans 20k section is great, im lucky enough to have a place in St Albans so know it very well.
Monkeysrus, after using it last year that wisemans ferry barge owes my GTI some paint. Felt like it almost took the front bumper off even with me getting off at quite an angle. Never again, I'll go the long way via the highway! Horrible scraping!
I think the R is 5mm lower than a GTI. My R catches and scrapes a fair bit on kerbs and driveways. My Mk5 GT (same height as a GTI) used to scrape and catch too.
