I'd like to see a full grid give it a go ALL day like the supercars.
    There'd be carnage everywhere!

Then again, I'd like to see more than just the ford and holden teams, like the good old days when you had Skylines, RX7's and Sierra's.

Well apparently the local city council has given the go ahead for this, and the only approval now waiting is from CAMS.

That's what I read in the local Bathurst newspaper yesterday.

I am fairly sure, that there are a great many people with that sentiment. I enjoyed watching the R8's go around the track recently in the 12 hour race. A two horse race is a boring race.

Was good to see the R8 win & wIll be very interesting watching a F1 on the mountain.

    Hopefully CAMS approve!

Cant see why CAMS wouldnt approve it, given FIA regs are met in production of the F1 car... and barring public safety, whats the real risks... then again I have heard the phrase " Confederation Against Motor Sports " banded around before.

The only issue is the speed capable of the F1 car is more than the track can handle. Don't be surprised if there's a speed limit (which is then ignored by the driver - same as happened with the Webber Harbour Bridge event).

only a few days to go!

350km/h F1 car takes on Bathurst

[qoute]Event organisers say the F1 car's lap times will not be recorded for safety reasons.[/quote]

There are 2 parts to the safety here.
    1. to stop drivers going for a time. Noting Driver+stopwatch=faster
    2. for insurance. By calling it a demonstration and therefore not having a laptime, they can get cheaper insurance, require fewer marshalls around the track, etc.
