bashing each other

Hi Guys..
I have been the member of this forum for quite some time now and there is tremendous wealth of information here. I enjoy reading and learning about cars and visiting this forum is like daily ritual for me.

But lately, I have seen in many threads people have just become so aggressive and started using offensive words toward each other. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and its really a futile attempt to prove others wrong to prove yourself right.

Just give up the need to be right all the time and try to use kind words.

Is it just me that feel this?

Unfortunately it is a basic feature of all such forums. You will get those who fire barbs at you for responding. No doubt, this will also generate barbs.

There are a variety of reasons as to why this happens, and no amount of complaining will change things.

One essential quality you need to have on this or any other forum is a thick skin. Let people have a go at you. So what. If you abandon things and leave, then they have prevailed.

Everyone has a right to post something or express a view or whatever that they feel is legitimate. If there are some who feel that your contribution is not worthy of being part of this forum, then they can find a forum where their view prevails.

I usually type up a reply if I feel the need to, and then instead of clicking the button to submit it, I just close the tab. That way you get it all off your chest but no-one reads it and goes looking for their flame suit

I'm always happy for someone to correct me here, otherwise I'd never learn anything.

I've been on a number of forums and tbh people here are very friendly. Compared to places like boostcruising or vwvortex people on here are very well mannered. Of course if you are too lazy to search before posting expect to get flamed. And to Ryan_R, I thought I was the only one who did that lol

no i haven't been to other forums mentioned above..good to hear that this forum is very good in comparison to others..everything is relative I guess..

You and me both. Very cathartic to have a rant but not subject yourself to angry responses.

At the end of the day, whenever you get opinions, and people who feel strongly about them, you're going to get some conflict. Happily, most people on here want to contribute to a good community, rather than just unloading **** on everyone. Some are just a little more diplomatic than others in the way they go about contributing.

Above all, remember that everyone has to start somewhere. So someone does not do a search of topics, or they ask a question that someone takes as stupid, or someone offers information that is seen as "unnecessary". Just point them in the direction to where things might have already been answered. No need to be nasty...ever.

On questions that are considered "stupid"; the stupid question is the one that is not asked. You'd be surprised how many others want the answer to that exact same question but would not ask it for fear of being jumped on.

At the end of the day, we are all here to help (hopefully). We will all trip up, but we don't want to make too much of a habit of it
