    Auto electrician advice needed

    right,
to cut a long story short I need to 2 bits of help

1 - I need to create resistance in my indicator loom, side indicators were deleted in the uk and since coming here when I indicate the bulbs go spastic because of the missing bulb which created the correct resistance, my loom runs through my chassis legs so would like to add a resistor of some type behind the grill to get the bulbs to flash at the correct sequence

2- this ones a bit more tricky, I need an auto electrician who can come to me to try and work out why my front side lights are not working, I've checked the bulbs and fusses and all seems ok,

If any one could point me towards some one who is happy to work on none standard stuff then that would be great

I'm, based in 2145, constitution hill sydney BTW

    thanks in advance

Basically you need to replace the bulb with an equivalent resistor.

    Let's say it is an 18 W bulb that is missing, at 12 volts, this would draw 1.5 A (i.e. 18 W/12 V). For 12 volts and 1.5 A, this would mean mean a resistance of 8 ohms (i.e. 12 V/1.5 A)

So, you would need a resistance of 8 ohms in the circuit to replicate the resistance an 18 W bulb would give at 12 V.

That's the math. The issue is to find a resistor that is going to be suitable for the installation.

On why the lights are not working, one of the more common issues is a bad earth. You need to make sure that you are getting a good earth for the lights.

If this does not correct it, then there may well be some other issues with the harness and you would have to check for continuity all the way to the lights.
