It is to be expected unfortunately.
Our motorshow is only providing car viewing to maybe 5 Million people at the very most.
The sales would be significantly less.
There may also be another international event on at the same time.
Well I was just browsing the Australian International Motor Show ~~ SYDNEY ~~ OCT 15th - OCT 24th 2010 > Home website and the exhibitor list is finally up and well... considering we only have 1 motorshow a year now, I see no reason as to why these car companies are not displaying anything!
Feel free to spread the word because I think this is a pathetic turn out!
- No Ferrari
- No BMW
- No Mini
- No Chrysler
- No Dodge
- No Jeep
- No Bentley
- No Rolls Royce
- No Citroen
- No Fiat
- No Bugatti
- No Aston Martin
And to think that most of these companies actually have new cars to show off!
- Ferrari 475 Italia
- BMW 5 series
- Mini Countyman
- RR Ghost
- Citroen DS3
- Fiat 500 Convertible
and thats just off the top of my head, as I am sure there are plenty more missing.
Take a look:

Paris is and has always been in the week or two before Sydney show.

easy mate ...dont bother going. easy for living 800k away from Adelaide
I think Ferrari WILL be there.
Maserati are on the list and in Australia Ferrari and Maserati are imported by the same group (ATECO).
They debuted the California locally at the Sydney show in 2008 and had a huge amount of orders for it then... wouldn't surprise me if they did the same with the 458.
Ferrari Defies Downturn!
I'm surprised Citroen won't be there, they have the DS3 and they are also ATECO. BMW Mini and Rolls Royce are the same company as are Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Fiat. Bentley and Bugatti are VW, but they can't sell any Bugattis in Australia, all LHD.
I live less than 40ks from Darling Harbour so I'm going anyway.

Thats not correct. You can infact buy Bugatti's in Australia. There is 1 dealer in Sydney which will let you buy one.
They had them at the Melbourne Motorshow last time it was on and with information from the dealer for those that can afford one.
The big ones that I will miss are Ferrari and Aston Martin if they dont show up.
Bentley and Rolls Royce I am also quite peeved about.
The american brands I could not care less for.
I was also looking forward to seeing Fiat. The 500 Arbarth I really wanted to see in the flesh.
i remember back in the day (living in sydney) when all the exotics would come out, and you'd get your maisto models, etc etc... great fun.
last motor show i went to (melbourne), was wholly uninspiring. it was just run-of-the-mill makers bringing their showroom- nothing you couldn't experience if you simply went along to a jeep/holden/bmw/mitsubishi dealership.
it was more of a helpful car shopping tool, than it was a smack-you-in-the-face car show.
i would've driven up to sydney for this... looks like i needn't bother making the trip, now.
BAD BAD BAD track day car.... too heavy! awesome power but damn.... a tiny ding, and you're out for 300,000 pounds or whatever a front bumper costs you....
