If you can live without the classy, elegant interior and a German badge, the Commodore SS gets you into a V8 for $47790, while the Falcon XR6 Turbo is $46235. A RWD drivetrain comes standard, but add $2000 for an automatic gearbox. Objectively speaking, they're good value for money.

You certainly won't feel short-changed if you can afford to spend extra on a European car (there are other qualities to a car than just straight-line performance), but again, you have to pay for it.
Sorry, I should have been more specific. If you were to buy an SS or an XR6T, optioned to a level which brings it's specifications and features to a comparable level of the Passat Highline V6 DSG 4-Motion, they would be similar pricing (by similar, I mean within 5-10%).

Being the owner of several European cars, I am certainly aware of the benefits.

Haha I do see the odd Aurion owner that thinks he's Sebastien Vettel. You'd lose them after 3 corners of a twisty road though.

Wouldn't Webber be cheerful if Vettel did indeed drive an Aurion.

I have thought about a tune but I can't be bothered spending the money. It is illegal to drive fast on a public road so why bother if that's the only place you drive it. I sometimes wonder why I bought a GTI and not a GT Sport/GTD.

I've been out on track in my Clio 172 before with a (non-TRD) Aurion. I could barely see the thing at the end of the straight at QR, but was back on his tail exiting turn 2, where I stayed until the straight. I vowed to never go to sprints on a Sunday again
People who enjoy driving generally don't buy Aurions...

No. It's not illegal to drive fast. It's illegal to exceed the speed limit. Different things.

You can get the car working well through a corner and punch out without breaking any road rules at all.

If you don't get that, then the Toyota dealership is that way.

    This.

There is no law against acceleration. I guess it could be classified as dangerous driving but giving it a squirt onto the freeway up to the speed limit is legal.

As has previously been stated, I like to think of not getting to the top, but how you get there. A german Volkswagen is a tier above an aurion in terms of class.

Good grief, I hope not all VW owners get all hot under the collar when they discover a car with a Toyota badge is faster than a car with a VW badge.

Driven the Aurion and it has very good drive with medium throttle use. Having no manual kinda ruins that though.

As started above, it turns like a boat with the sports suspension and luckily havent driven one with standard suspension.

That said it does fit a market and is a good car if thats what you are after.

I instantly slow down whenever I see an Aurion. I swear 1/2 of them are unmarked police cars... the other half being marked police cars.
