Contact Lucas at Eurospeed - he knows a bit about what injectors to use
Hey guys, did a lot of searching but couldn't find a reference so my question is this:
I have a 2004.5 Audi A4 1.8TQ (B6).
Factory has it pegged at 120kW engine (w00t *sigh*)
Am looking to go to Stage 1+ with the factory K03 and want to know what injector size I need to go up to (cc's). Would like to allow for future K04 upgrade if possible just in case the K03 meets premature death post tune + a few years.
Only info I've found so-far is:
- TT injectors seem to be a common swap (uknown size)
- factory injectors seem to be tiny (<300cc)
- all 1+ kits provide 'bigger injectors' (ye, thanks for that)
HEEEEELP. Am collecting parts pre tune.

What do you consider 1+, I'd would speak to your tuner. We tune with the std injectors, unless the turbo is being replaced. At which point you would address the injectors.
You can't go from K03 to K04 with the same software and expect it to perform it's best.

To flesh this out a little more then, I'm looking to preserve IDC < 80-85% under peak load and high temp situations.
Clearly heat issues leads to distribution eveness for cylinders and given that I won't be managing EGT per cylinder or anything over and above what's offered by the factory setup, I see this as a cheap insurance policy.
Yes the car is keeping it's K03 to start with but could well find a K04 in there before long, and with the appropriate retune, preserve the safe IDC under peak boost at full throttle. If needed, I'll also update the pump to a higher volume (something like a Walbro 255lph) to increase the fuel rail pressure to such an extent to preserve spray patterns and flow consistency under load (again, cheap insurance).
Surely someone can tell me the OEM flow rate of an 120kW 1.8T K03 based VAG engine???
From the ECSTuning site, the best I can tell is that the OEM units are <300cc's with typical updates being 318cc or 225HP (190kW) TT injectors @ 386cc.
I'm guessing some injectors at around the 360cc mark would be spot on given that I'm unlikely to push my car over 200-225HP.
