Anyone tried trading in their VW the last few days.

After having a few issue with the Jetta lately , airbag light on again and see this thread :
Need Advice dealer says Mechatronics failure , Im not sure.

I thought it time to start to look for something new and did a few searches, sent a few emails and made
    a few calls,
Now Im most likely going to be berated on here for even thinking of a Citroen C4 diesel with Egs gearbox but there
is not much out there if you want low fuel economy, diesel and an auto box.

So when it came to ask the dealer if they had a auto diesel in stock everything seemed fine until he asked
if I was looking to trade which I said yes , VW TDI DSG , he said I need to put you on hold, came back a short time
later to say he will need to speak with his boss when he returns but doesn't think they will look at trading the VW.
I said is this because of all the bad press which he indicated was the problem, he said they have had a number
off calls from people with VW's looking to trade.

So looks like I maybe left with a vehicle I cannot sell.

Anyone else had any similar experience the last few days during this media blitz on VW's.

I was wondering when the bad press would eventually bite VW on the a$$. Haven't seen a dramatic decrease in value or a lack of interest in our cars lately but I can see it happening. Yeah could be worry. Wouldn't say it means you'll have a car that you cannot sell, just one that isn't as valuable anymore.

    It will blow over.

At the moment it's in the media. Give it 3 months and everyone will go back to not caring and complaining about whatever latest **** they want to shovel down our throats to make us consume.

There are plenty of options, depending on your budget.

    Yeah. Heaps.

The new 3 series (320D) has a cracking diesel engine and a brilliant auto.

If I was a dealer I'd use the current issues to try & lowball my customers.

Bugger me, he's a Citroen dealer. He should be used to having cars on the lot that nobody wants.

It's not biting VW on the a$$... it's biting vw owners on the a$$.
The only outcome so far is a trashing of VW resale values. None of the customer issues have been resolved.
Some VW owners seem quite happy to cut off their noses to spite their faces.

And I can't believe anyone would touch Citroens EGS transmission!!!!

The thing that amazes me is all these people that claim to have parked their faulty cars in the garage & don't use them.
    It's because it's not true.

I had my 2010 90TSI DSG (40k ODO) up for sale last month for just under 19k ( I know I was dreaming) - no calls.

So I lowered the price to just under 15k still no calls - so I took it off the market and talked to a Subaru dealer for trade in but they are not interested .... So much for resale value and I don't think it will go away as anyone who is buying a used car these days is doing some research before and it will come up again and again. Even if you have a complete different car to the ones affected it would still be difficult to sell.

Looks like I have to keep the Golf and hope for the best.....

It took 5 weeks to sell my 118 TSI in march. 3 weeks from first advert to first enquiry. Same with my mk5 comfortline. 3 weeks till 1st enquiry.

    Just patience my friend.
