Mkvi golf r. 86,000k, manual. 31k.
Not bad. Only 16k loss over 28months with high kms.
The car I looked at was a dog so not going ahead. Still, good to know.
I don't have any plans to trade-in/sell my Golf, but for those who are, I hope this old adage applies
"today's news is tomorrow's fish and chip wrapper"
I reckon it will as has been the case with previous recalls.

HAHAHA
True.. Rememer the early Hyundai Excels (the throwaway ones) that literallly had the front suspension tower break away due to poor welds?.. Hyundai held off doing a recall on these for quite some time IIRC but relented due to public pressure... Rather than do the proper fix (which involved taking the engine out and redoing the welds) they fixed it with metal and rivets...
Still see plenty of these on the roads (some argue too many)..

Excellent.
VW has gone as low as Hyundai in the past (not now AFAIK) and we are perfectly ok with it. Only difference is we pay much more than Hyundai buyers do.
Something's very wrong with this post and if this is the best we can come up with then I'm sorry to say this is borderlining fanboyism.
I've just traded in a 2010 Polo GTI with 28K on the clock, and a 2005 Golf TDI 2.0 with 173K on the clock.
$18.5 and $6K respectively. Probably would have fetched higher on a private sale...but the timing wasn't right...I wonder why I only got 1 test drive in the Polo GTI...
What has really surprised me in all of this is the aggression from some VW owners that have had problems to other VW owners that have not had problems.
it seems that if you still like your VW and haven't really had any issues (and say so) you are either a fanboy or an idiot.
