    Agree totally. Except, for some really weird reason, VWs seem to hold their value, whereas Italian and French cars don't. The sillyspeed was stupid, similar to the MB Sprintshift on Sprinter vans.

    One of the best FWD cars I ever drove was a friends Alfasud ti in the 80s. The Brera is utterly beautiful. But I don't kid myself. There's a reason I have a zero residual loan and extended warranty on the 118 TSI. My Pug is all mine, worth nothing, and I love it. That's worth more than retained value.

    There is nothing weird about it, it is market forces at play. Owners of Italian and French cars (granted it is a generalisation but go with me on this one) are willing to drop their price in order to meet the market in order to dispose of their vehicles. VW owners find that there is more of a market of people willing to but their cars 2nd hand hence they don't need to drop their price as much. Whether one or the other is more reliable, you could put it down to the people's perception and desires that are setting the 2nd hand market.

    I find the Brera terribly disappointing. For starters, it was meant to be what the 8c developed in to. And secondly, for the production models, they seem to have borrowed both the tare weight and the overhang measurements from a city bus.

    I am looking to replace the falcon with a 2 door sports car. The Alfa Romeo tattoo on my back probably should dictate that I end up in a Brenda. But, as much as I am an AR man, I cannot do it to myself. The 159 is stunning. The brenda. That damn brenda.

    Hence, I am looking at 370z. I just wish that Alfa had made it.

    More so, you're saying that the 8c was developed into the Brera?

    That's impressive, since the Brera came first...

    The original Brera concept was Maser V8/Transaxle RWD coupe.

    They then took the shell and put in on the 159 platform

    Then they developed the 8c.... using Maser V8/Transaxle RWD
