Thanks for all the feedback and suggestions guys. I'll see what Suncorp and Shannons have to say.

In 2009 I rang Shannons to get my golf insured and they said they couldn't do it as I didn't qualify as an enthusiast. Even after telling them that all 3 of my previous cars had been golfs (mk2, mk3, mk4). LOL.
My grandma always drove a Golf, def not an enthusiast.
Try "I attend the occasional track day, and am active on various car forums, I tinker with my car and love the sound of a worked V8...."

That will get the enthusiast pass with Shannons.
I find shannons value my car too high, I know I could replace it for about 40% less than what they listed it at.
    MK4 GTI - Sold
    MK5 Jetta Turbo - Sold
    MK5 Jetta 2.Slow - Until it dies.

I think when I got past the Shannons gatekeepers it was like: Ï've ridden since I was 9. I've had 6 motorbikes & 2 of them I rebuilt from wrecks. I owned 16 cars in the first 10 years of my licence. I run a car based forum called C&I. I go to car shows & motor racing & was on the tyre crew for an ex-Alan Moffet RX7 Touring car that won a wet round of the ATCC at Amaroo once. My car has these mods x,y,z, etc & I did all the work myself" that got me in
carandimage The place where Off-Topic is On-Topic
I used to think I was anal-retentive until I started getting involved in car forums
