Advice for a Couple of Poms coming to Oz

With our visit to Oz approaching rapidly we are trying to get our heads around vehicle regulation for Oz roads. Our T4 will be temporaily imported under carnet and we have contacted all the relevant state/territory authorities but could any one briefly summarise pink (are they safety inspections), green ( something to do with insurance ?) and blue slips?
Any advice or links greatly appreciated.

By the sounds of things ur coming to NSW?

Pink slip is safety inspection needed every year. They check tyres, indicators, steering etc etc to make sure ur car is roadworthy. Same principles as your MOT but no emissions tests.

Green slip is compulsory third party insurance required for every road registered car. Basically protects injury to other ppl (but not to other cars or property).

Blue slips is basically a more detailed safety inspection. Its required for cars coming from interstate, imports, or if your rego has lapsed more than 3 months.

Yeah and those damn green slips (Compulsory CTP) cost about 400 bucks a year now, making the rego process about $750 to $800!!!

I think the CTP will cover the frequent drop bear attacks we Australians experience, too?
