Apparently, VW is about to update their Warranty Policy to include a 5year / 150,000kms 'driveline' warranty on ALL VW Cars due to all the problems reported globally.
There's not much detail as yet, but basically what they are saying is that anyone with any kind of Gearbox problems (manual or DSG), after your 3 year warranty is up, you will have some peace of mind for the next two years.
They said it would be more of a 'goodwill' gesture and would allow dealers to approach VAG to put through any warranty work on gearboxes outside the 3 year standard warranty.
Will keep in contact with the dealer and see what comes out of it.
Just read an article in Feb edition of Wheels magazine (page 15) by Peter Robinson iterating the above...........all gearboxes in all vw badged cars warranty extended to 5yrs / 150 000km.
