Hi all have a r36 with the mechatronic playing up. (Car is out of warranty)Took back to dealer and it's confirmed by them. They have applied to volkswagon Australia as a goodwill warranty. Do you think it will be covered 100% Maybe 50/50? They said its all assed on a individual basis.... Really scared if not covered as the unit alone is around 4500 plus labour (900.00). Really considering my options if not covered. What do you think i should do if not covered? its also a known issue with dsg! Can any one please shed some more detailed info if this has ever happened to them with there outcomes. Thanks everyone
Heavily depends or your service history within the VW dealer network and if you've owned the car from new.

Replaced mechatronics unit on my GTI under goodwill (just out of warranty, dealer serviced from new)
Wasn't actually a failure, I wanted to get it done prior to sale
VW and dealer supported it (did have the reversing hesitation issue and abrupt downshift - nothing major)

Its funny(not really). In shopping for my Mk5 I specifically wanted a 3dr manual as i've had a 5dr DSG before.
Ended up with a 5dr DSG.
Sigh.
Service history is faultless always done through vw dealer... And am second owner. Awaiting response from dealer.
It's an easy choice... Just don't buy ang VAG product with DSG... You are just tempting fate.
