2006 Jetta Interior button finish issue??

    Hi all,

Went to look at a 2006 147kw jetta for my wife's run around yesterday.

Was disappointed with the interior of the car. The car had the stereo and door buttons in black ( not silver like my 2008 stereo etc ).

Now I'm unsure as to wether the car has been not looked after or if there is a known problem with the finish.

The buttons are all worn and the finish coming off, the buttons are also quite tacky/sticky to the touch.

Can anybody confirm if there is a common issue??

    Many thanks Aaron

It all depends how the previous owner looked after his/her car. The driver could be eating in the car and touching the buttons with dirty fingers. If you eat the fruit while driving then you will mess up the finish of the buttons and sometimes the switches as well as the juice will get inside the switches. Yes, some drivers are pigs and never clean up after themself.

The 05 06 golfs. Jetta. Passat suffered with switches peeling.. also touareg...not too expensive to replace them and makes a huge difference to the look of the car...VDUB..

Women's make up/moisturiser also eats/stains into plastic, I know that from experience.

What brand of make up are you using?

Also watch out for sunscreen, it will stain car finishes and you can't polish it out if left on for too long.

LOL Mum's Golf has stains all over the radio buttons, while my makeup/moisturiser free Jetta has no marks at all.

I had a 2005 Mk5 Golf TDI that had the same issues. Always make sure never to touch the edges, and it still peeled off.

I was the main driver, I don't remember putting on make up...
