    1989 Peugeot 205Gti...rocket

I know these cars are full of plastic, but hey they are quick and fun !! I today 'acquired' my 2nd one of these through the old "friend of a friend" as he was moving house and needed it gone...a free car is always a good car.

So whilst it needs a couple of things to tidy it up, I'm in 2 minds about 'tidying' to sell (with Rego & RWC) or maybe even as a fun Club track car???....watch this space............ :dontknow:

One of my all time favourite cars, really wanted one when i was back in the UK but insurance was horrendous, had to make do with it's bigger sister the 309 Gti.

arch nemesis to the mk1 GTI! Cool car though!

All the fun of a mk1GTI with less space but more mod cons

Best handling FWD car of its era (and one of the best all time) although you had to have commitment when pressing on - dealing with (and taking advantage of) lift off oversteer was part of the game. They're not allowed to build cars like that anymore

The build quality was shoddy but as a track car, it'd be great fun.

Yup awesome little crapheap! Was SO CLOSE to buying one years back - even put down a deposit, but then a mk2 GTI came up. Now look where i am!

Would still love a 205 Gti one day though.

So is yours the 'series 1' with the smaller 14" wheels, drum rear brakes and no power steering?

apparently they arent allowed to... cars have to have ipad connectivity, 5 suspension and ecu settings, 28 airbags and twitter / facebook accessibility...

as for the fun part - why have fun in a car when the computer can change your gears, eliminate any whiff of "i might have made a mistake around that corner", etc etc....

it's okay for cars to be heavy and boring as f'k, as long as they've got good 0-100 times and can go around a track faster thanks to the ecu being more involved than you are in the whole (lack of) experience...
