I've only got one point in my 3 years and I don't drive like a grandpa. If your getting points, you must be doing something wrong... ??? I'd take the 1 point for 12 months. Or maybe you should move to Tasmania

Stu man.... seriously.... if you were driving a Getz then maybe u could get by on one point.... But driving a VR?????

I'll be honest, I wouldnt be able to do it if it was me. No matter how careful I drive, loosing 1 point is a wiggle of my big toe and there is 5km extra on the speedo with zero effort.

Let's put aside the fact I drive a vr they aren't outrageously quick... An auto commodore I feel is much easier to speed in.

Let's say I drive my 1500 beetle the whole 12 months... Does that change things?

I think the only way possible is to have the car as inconspicuous as possible, standard ride height, standard exhaust, dare i say normal looking so as not to attract attention. if you think you can do it using it only when needed and sticking to the limits then give it a crack. Maybe even pick up some GL badges and get rid of the VR6 ones at least until the heat dies down a bit.

a 1500 beetle is still capable of doing 63km/h so no it doesnt change anything.

option 3: throw a massive turbo on the vr6 and have a bit of fun when you see the flashing lights?

Seriously though if you need the car for work or somthing then maybe, but you gotta remember how easy it would be to slip up and be out of a licence for another 12 months or whatever it is.

Realistically most people on here probably could/do make it 12 months without a point, regardless what they're driving, it just takes a tiny bit of bad luck for it to go all wrong though.

    All very good points!

But remember it is only speeding if you have gone over the speed limit for more than 5 seconds!

Well I still have time to think about buying a corolla or a mk1 diesel with no compression! :p

Let's try a little test to see if you can learn anything new - as I pointed out before, the word you want is lose, not loose.

The only thing loose about this thread is the cannon behind the wheel when you drive.

You have already shown a total disrespect for the law by your actions.

I honestly don't think it matters which way you go, you'll lose your license again anyway. Hopefully you won't cause an innocent party a problem.
