i'm guessing you don't have access to a laser cutter/ or etcher to get a zender logo etched/cut into a blank cap?
Well.. I've had these stashed away for some time now and lately i've got some good old fashioned motivation back.. So i thought i'd attack them and get them cleaned up bling bling style.
I've only got 3 centre caps and unfortunately i can only find blank caps without the Zender logo.. My solution- Fill in the Zender and either buy one cap if they're cheap or turn up a new one..
First things first i hooked into them with a little scotch brite type wheel on the die grinder and ripped the excess paint off, then I hit them with the media blaster.
After that, i cleaned them up with some thinners and got out the plastibond. I mixed some up, filled in the logo and left them to set. I came back an hour later and blocked the plastibond down with my polishing block and some gyprock sanding mat. This gyprock stuff is for sanding gyprock and it is a woven type mat bonded together with a ceramic abrasive. Being a mat it stops the plastibond from loading up the sheet and it cuts much, much better.
Once i was finished with that, it was a hit with some Prepwash and then some etch primer. I gave them a light coat and tomorrow i'll wet rub them and give them another coat.
Tomorrow i'll also get the tyres taken off these rims and get them up to the powdercoaters to sand blast them.

Thought you would have been able to write a program to mill that in Chris...
Dunno what caps I have here , got 2 sets sitting on the shelf that ive not looked at for a while...
Glad to see another set about, IMO probably the sexiest wheels for a MK1..
Lots of MK 1 Scirocco's...
If it aint a MK 1 then it must be a donor car ??
Cheers,
Grant...
Yeah i thought about it. I also thought about using the Pantograph (copy machine) and using an original cap as the stencil to machine it in, but i doubt i'd be able to get it exactly right with the radii etc. While no one else would probably notice it would give me the sh*ts, so i decided to do it with decals.
Yes i particularly like these wheels. Should go alright once i'm finished i think. I'll most likely paint them silver.

Hooray for wheel progress! If only I could find the small amount of money to keep going with mine..they're waiting patiently in my garage.

Silver. Nice, clean and simple.
I've got a small amount of work to do removing the gutter rash on a couple but they should turn out spot on.
