    Will they fit?

Ive got porsche 16x7J with ET65 and want to fit them to my mk2 with 20mm adapter/spacers. The tyres are 215/40/16.

    Im worried about width.

    Hi

20mm adapters will take the offset to 45, really u need 30mm adapters this will give you 35 offset, 215 tyres are too wide, on a 7" wide rim you should run 195/45/16 tyres, this will keep the rolling radius almost the same as the orginal 185/60/14 tyres the golf came with.
    Hope that helps

    Thanks Ian.

I used a tyre calculator and judged by eye and the rolling radius is only about 1% bigger. I dont have money for new tyres as adapters are going to cost a fair bit

Why do you suggest a 35 offset?

What's the stock offset/width on the Mk2? I'm guessing it's something around 6"/ET38, and with a 7"/ET45, the wheels may be sitting a good deal further in to the car. This can be troublesome if you have coilovers fitted. Also, it can just be a "looks" thing, but that's purely your opinion! I like my wheels sitting flush to the fender and a 7"/ET35 would be more closer to that.

I've got 215/40R16 on a pair of 6.5" at the moment and they fit well. That said, I've got 195/45R16 mounted on the other pair of 6.5" and they look much better. If you're tight on money, I wouldn't be worried about a 215/40 on 7". I doubt you'll be rubbing on the set-up you have.

    Thanks mate.

According to my measurements it will fit real nice, might have to role and cut the front arch but no big deal there. Guna lower it 40mm too, so should be sweet......according to my calculations....but i could be wrong thats why i was asking.

I was basing my calculations on the stock mk2 offset being 45et, if its less then its even better.

yes you want your wheels to be the same et as stock to avoid changes in scrub radius etc.

So like mentioned by others 30mm spacers would work well.

On the rear scrub radius isn't an issue and you can space them as much as you'd like within the confines of your inner and outter clearance issues.
