And are the GS-D3's worse than the 'normal Eagle F1's'?

What are the stock tyres?

The stock tyres on 17"x7.5" wheels are 225/45R17s, but 235/45R17s fit fine. IIRC, the 18" Aristos are 7.5" wide too, and so 235s should fit fine.

Not sure on the Eagles. I'm putting Kumho KU31s on to replace the Pirelli P6s when they wear out, and the track wheels are getting KU36s...

i managed to get the interface detected with the ross tech, but for some reason, it feels as though there is no communication between the controllers in the car.
in the comm status, it tries all the differenet addresses. The word 'try' comes up quite often...

I've seen 235s on 7.5" wheels, the protrusion isn't bad at all - 225 sidewalls are very upright, you're only looking at a centimetre wider all up. It's not stretch by any "stretch" of the imagination (boom tish), but I'm not much for stretch anyway.

If you're able to come to the GTG next Tuesday night, I'll have my full VAG-COM setup with me, we can see if we can scan your car then.

The GSD3 were the old Eagle F1s and the Asymmetrics are the new version.

I believe the GSD3 is no longer manufactured, so if you plan to buy, then make sure you are getting newish stock (by checking the manufacture date on the sidewall)

the GSD3 is a great tyre and won many awards, and is still great by today's standard.

the main difference is the Asymmetric F1 is better in wet weather conditions.

I have run both tyres on my GT-P and both are highly recommended, i suspect your choice might possibly boil down to price difference

yeah. the assymetrics are the latest. althought they are both listed on the site.
Cost is important to me nowadays (always, really).

The range of permitted tyres on a 7.5J rim are 205/45 R17 to 245/45 R17 inclusive ( optimum fit is 225/45 R17 ) and 215/40 R18 to 225/40 R18 inclusive ( optimum fit is 215/40 R18 ).

235/40 R18 requires a minimum rim width of 8J ( optimum fit is 225/40 R18 ).

As specified by the ETRTO.

had the konis installed about 3 weeks ago.

Asked the installer to set rebound at "firm, for road use". (presumably about half way?) (i'm not an expert here!!)

they are solid as a rock, with virtually no body roll at all.

Even with 3 year old, average brand tyres, the car is so much quicker round corners and bends now.

The down side? Well, its a bit harsh over bumps, but not that much worse than my rolly-poly OEM springs.

so, I love em!!

So there's only two widths allowed on an 18x7.5J rim (since there's nothing between 215 and 225)?
