I'm getting a quote for new aftermarket wheels and tyres and have been asked whether the current tyre pressure sensors are in the wheel/tyre or in the ABS. Depending on the answer, I either do or don't need to purchase and install new sensors for new wheels/tyres.
Any advice appreciated.
Im quite certain the tpms is on the valve as my tyre fitter needed my stock wheels to take them. I didnt so turned it off.
Ok thanks. A guy in USA with a 2012 "sport" said they are in his tyres too.

Darks I've now confirmed that tyre pressure monitor is in the wheel/tyre. When you say you turned off the TPMS, how did you do that? I'm hoping to use someone other than dealer to balance fit and align my new wheels and tyres. But if they don't know how to turn off TPMS, I will get constant red light warning. I'm useless at doing such stuff myself.

Fairly easy on mine. There should be a button to switch Tyre sensing from full to partially loaded. If you hold it down it should just turn off (and say something on the mfd, it will then remind you that it's off, just ignore and voila!
Failing that check out the user manual!

I have a spare set of TPMS sensors that can be fitted to any rims if anyone wants them - pm me.

I took new VMR708 wheels to tyre shop for fit and align and transfer of TPMS sensors from stock wheels. They said that wheels for TPMS sensors need/have an indent inside the rim near the valve hole. The indent is there to enable the sensor to lie flat inside the tyre rather than poke up. He said that without that indent, the sensor will sit upright such that it will snap off if the tyre loses pressure or goes flat.
I explained to VMR that the tpms is in tyre for my cc so I'd be surprised if they have but didn't send a wheel that's specific for TPMS sensors.
Ansyone else have any experience with this?
Thanks
