Thread: What wheels are these?

  1. #1

    What wheels are these?

Standard Mk4 Golf circa 03/01 fitment or a later wheel retrofitted on to a Mk4? I only ask because I'm looking at all the aluminium option wheels for my car on ETKA 7.0 here and not one of them looks like this wheel.

Here's what my ETKA says are the available wheels for my car according to VIN. As you see, none of them actually look like the wheels on the car.

The logo'd caps in the centre all need replacing and so I'm trying to source the right part number.

It was one of the stock rims on the New Beetle and maybe MkIV's as well.

I have seen then on a MKIV in 15" and I have them on my Mk3 in 16" Can't help you with part numbers though... unless there is one on the cap itself, but I assume you could just read that off yourself

I can tell you that they are on some Mk4's as standard..I looked at a pair with tyres when I desperately needed some replacement wheels but I didn't realise the tyres were huge

The wheels are called 'Amaroo' alloys apparently and were an accessory option on Mk4 Golfs. So, now that's cleared up, who has bought the Chinese copy aluminium stickers for the centre caps on eBay before and used them?

The local stealers will only sell me complete replacement caps, ie. the plastic push in cap with sticker attached. They won't sell jsut replacement stickers. And they want $20 each for them!! Well, they can back that up their arse because I only want the stickers and the Chinese are selling all four for $12 posted to my door.

I figure $12 is better than $80 providing they're the right size and they look right. Anyone got any experience of them?

For $12, I know an easy way to find out, I'd just ask the question on size first. How they look and how they wear will be something only experiance will tell.
