    VR6 Aftermarket Suspension

    Hi Guys,

    Dropping again...

    So i just purchased a 97 MK3 VR6...First thing on the list..suspension hunting..
few options...from Ian (rennenhaus), David (KW), and a few other inputs here and there...

Ian was offering an amazing deal:

    1) Eibach Pro system plus kit (Pro Dampers, Pro springs, front and rear sway)
    2) Eibach Sport system plus kit (Pro Dampers, Sport springs, front and rear sway)

    David from KW :
    3) KW V2 ( abit pricy as compared to 1 and 2)

    4) Blistein ???

I am looking for coilovers as they are height and damper adjustable...anyone has any thoughts?

I know there are factors like budget, and type of use ...but from the options i listed, i guess everyone should have a rough gauge...i call it "aggressive commuting"

What do you want to spend. There are coils available for under $1,000 but you don't get any adjustments save height.

KW v2's are what, almost three times that? But you do get all the adjustments.

I have a set imported from Germany that fit into the under $1k group, your more than welcome to come and check out how they look, feel and handle. On the flip side I am still very interested in seeing how the V2's go.
Reality for me is that I am not likely to bugger round and change anything more than height, so I'm good with no adjustment.
Mine are a little on the harsh side, but I have no point of reference to say thats not just what coils do. (after all it's always going to be lower and stiffer right??)

I did try to organise a VR6 suspension comparison where we could get stock, cheap coils, expensive coils and maybe a cup kit or two and drive each others cars and give a personal rating to ride and handling.

Get a set of JOM coilovers from this guy:

He will be getting more in a few days and I got a set posted with front and strut mounts and bearings for under $600AU and they came in 4 days. Car rides as comfortably as it did before but without the horrendous body roll, car feels great and people always seem to complement me on the ride.

KW's are great, but can't be serviced domestically and cost close to 50% what a VR6 is worth, I'd get a set if I had a MKV GTI imo, but it would be a pointless exercise for anything more than a street driven VR6 as mine as.
