Whaaaaaat? Did they strap them to a ballistic missile and aim for Seaforth? That's unheard of.

well to be honest, i did a lot of prep work, i emailed on the tues as thats when i had to initially get the tyres aligned, tyre guy says they rooted and needs new tyres.
unfortunately, the goodyear eagle f1 supercar g:2 isnt kept in australia, as its a mustang gt500 specific tyre. he told me to just buy off tirerack. so i emailed them back and forth on tues and some of wed. ended up paying the bank transfer on the wed arvo. they must have had it all packaged up on their end ready to go.
the payment must have gone thru the thurs and i assume they got it out by thurs arvo. the fedex shipment notification says 11/2 was the pickup, so it must have gotten the last plane out on friday. and then they must have processed it monday morning in sydney cos the driver dropped it off monday arvo.
would make for an interesting doco, charting the journey of something like that across countries

have any brisbane people bought tyres fr tirerack? reason i'm asking is, was quoted us$341 for shipping 4 tyres to Brisbane.

i only paid us$250 to have a set shipped to Sydney, twice last year.

i wonder if shipping to Brisbane has always been around us$340....

The landing point is in NSW just north of sydney if I remember correctly...
I paid a fair bit more again compared to people in melbourne when I got it shipped to the country in VIC, still cheaper

I have bought several things from Tirerack.com. From wheels and rims to new headlight globes. Their service has been excellent, the price is usually 1/2 of that here, even with freight and the are incredibly quick to deliver. I can't recommend them enough.

    Well, we will see.
I have just asked TireRack for a quote on Conti ExtremeContact DWs 225/50Z/R16. I want a quiet tyre that doesnt do anything ridiculous. These come top of the surveys and for 110 a corner...

OEm is 205/55, and tyre size calculators show negligible difference, so should be OK?

Yowie, why do u say that as if u doubt it. Tirerack has been used by many Australians and the overall majority have said its half price with a week shipping.
I'm buying again, Goodyear assymetric 2 in 18", $1200 delivered, that's the cost of 2 tyres here

I run 225/55x16 at the moment and they make the speedo scarily accurate. When they are worn out I intended to go to 225/50x16 as a happy medium as the stock 205/55x16 make the speedo 10% wrong.

You do realise that you need a minimum 7" rim for 225/50x16? (AFAIK)

    Both 225/55 R16 and 225/50 R16 tyres can be fitted on 6.0" - 8.0" wheels.
