I got a bit suspicious when you had to agree to the disclaimer they send before they send the tyres.

Having said that their service has always been impeccable.
Just had 4 Continental DWS tyres delivered from Tirerack. less than $1,000 inlcuding shipping. Under 1/2 the price of equivalent tyres here.
Was worried about the age - due to the above poster - but they were made in Germany Oct/11. So only 3 months old.

We are so ripped off in this "lucky country".

just bought some goodyear eagle f1 supercar g:2 for my brothers mustang. goodyear australia dont stock the tyre, and they wanted about $750 for the asymmetric 1 which is the lower spec tyre.
i got the supercar g:2 for $500ea delivered. hopefully arrive next week
as far as the age of the tyres, i believe tirerack would only stock fairly recent manufactured inventory and they have closeouts on older stock frequently

I just bought 4 x Goodyear Assy 1s from tirerack

    Big tyres - 275/30/19

The whole transaction was painfree and easy - the only quirk was that you have to pay via a bank transfer, so cost an extra $25 for bank fees..

Airfreight was around $300 for the big tyres, and delivery took about 1 week.

Make sure you add in extra cost for local fitting and disposal of the old carcasses (budget around $30/tyre)

in this instance no, the purchase price was under the $1000 threshold, so no local taxes etc.

Having said that, one of my colleagues purchased 4 tyres the week after I did, and the price was welol over the $1k threshold and still didnt pay any taxes - looks like customs/agents are a bit hit and miss on their application

Yeh, I've heard that a lot slips thru, what with thousands of parcels a week, and only a few agents, u can only check so many.
