Any more than $20 & they're having a lend of you. Some place will simply refuse to fit them. Suggest you do a phone around first for fit, balance & new tubeless valve - $15 is a reasonable price.

They will also charge you for disposing your old tyres.

    Sorry, forgot about that.
Still, Jax her in Campbelltown charge $15 for everything. When i sold the BBS rims off the Skoda he stripped them for me & disposed of the old tyres for nothing in the hope that I'd send mor business his way.

Don't forget that some tyre cases have a fairly good value for the retreaders (yes, some fools still use retreads), so they can sell them rather than pay for disposal.

Another satisfied customer of tirerack! Thanks for all the info on this thread.
Had a front tyre bulge after driving through a large pothole at 80km/hr. Since the original tyre, Dunlop sports maxx gt, had done 30000km i decided to replace all four.
Got Goodyear f1 asymmetric 2. Cost including delivery was around AUD$1150. Today I had them fitted, balanced, and aligned for $160.
    Saved about $500.

Do they generally take anything? I've wondered about this before. Why pay disposal fees if someone else wants them and might even pay for them.

i emailed tirerack on the 15th to order a set of continental dw's for my mustang. he emailed me back on the mon with a confirmation of my order, i gave it the ok and paid via bank transfer on tues 17th, they shipped out on wed 18th. as of right now sat 21st, the fedex tells me its at alexandria, so it will most probably be delivered on monday 23rd.
thats not too shabby for a week turnaround.
sorry to those that have had issues, but this is the second order that ive had where its taken only a week to get tires

Hey, good stuff. I would use Tire Rack again, despite the spelling error in their name
I think you need to differentiate the shippers from Tire Rack itself, which did everything right.

tyres arrived this morning, awesome turnaround time.
i believe that michelin is one of the brands that tirerack wont sell outside of north america.
while a bummer, there are plenty of other decent brands available. the michelin are great tyres, but dont lose sleep if u cant get them, look at the other options

Just adding my experience to the collective knowledge in the thread.

Order: Like everyone else, once I got a hold of a sales agent, the order was processed quick with no dramas. Ended up getting 4 x Goodyear Eagle Assymetric F1 2's for my GTI (225 / 40 / R18 / 92Y).

Delivery: Shipped Monday 23rd, delivered Monday 30th July, no issues at all. FedEx called before delivery to check I was around.

Issues: They delivered the wrong bloody tyres! They've shipped me 88Y tyres instead of 92Y, which are illegal on the Golf here (below recommended rating, and not covered by insurance if you crash). I even made a point of clarifying the load rating with the agent before shipping.

Chasing them up now, so will keep you posted re: correction / etc.
