    Stretched tyres

    Hi guys,

Interested in seeing examples of your stretched tyres. Can you post pics of your wheel/tyre combos and state their specs please? And also where you bought the tyres and had them fitted.

    Cheers,
    Raymond.

My 195/45s on an 8" wheel. 'Correct', un-stretched size would be around 215/40/15 (not available locally, though, I don't think), but they would rub

I just had Bob Jane fit the tyres - they didn't have a problem with doing it, but I gather it's a bit different on the mainland.

More here. The one above isn't mine but that is what the tyres will look like when my rims finish being made.

I think anything more than valvers stretch looks a bit silly. That sits pretty nicely tho!

Im running 205/45/16s on my 7.5" rims. thats the most narrow tyre that i can legally fit on there. but yeah anything wider and id probly be rubbing.

i have 225's on 8.5" which is slightly, tiny bit stretched. next set i will get 215's so it loks more stretched and i wont rub as much.

    heres my specs,SCHMIDT SPACE wheels
    rear 255/35 18 x 10.5

    front 225/40 18 x 8

had to look around to begin with for the tyres, but ended up getting second hand used tyres.$450 for the four with about 30% used.I have changed those and put the rubber that was on my mates TT speedline wheels onto my car now. That rubber was purchased locally new for over $500ea tyre!! so im not looking forward to getting new fronts.it seems the fronts wear but the rears nothing.

I'm going for 15x8's too, and that seems to be what I want! Though 195/50 would be a better tyre when it comes to maintaining the stock rolling diameter for the Mk3. I've looked into 205/45 too as the stretch would not be so apparent on an 8" wide wheel (provided that I roll the front arches, I should have no worries rubbing).

The issue with tyre sizes also limit what we can go for - were those Continentals in your pic Valver?

    Thanks for the pic!
