im not a fan. its also not legal i dont think unless it was like that from the factory.
After seeing a sic mk3 with what apeared to be staggered rims (they wheren't) I want to do a staggered look on my car. As i've just bought a pair of front tyres yesterday, i will keep the 15" 205/50 r15's on the front. I will be choosing some new rims, as im sure color concepts dont come in a both 15" and 16".
I would use a 15x6.5 or 15x7 for the front, and a 16x7 for the rear
I would use a 205/50r15 on the front, as i've just mentioned, have only just bought.
For the rear i would use a 205/50 R16, so that the sidewalls match the front, the width is easy to get, and i think i can fit them in the gaurds. also on a 7" rim, it would give me some strech.
Has anyone done this before? How would it look?

Not a fan of staggered diameter wheels either, unless they came factory. Staggered width is OK, but even that is undesireable on a front-wheel drive car. Having the same tyres (205/50) on different diameter wheels will mean your rear would appear higher than the front. Also, 205/50 on a 16" would make a pretty big wheel for the Mk3. Without uprated springs, you will rub. Peedman had similar tyres on 15" and with the stock springs (run about 100,000km already), the rears rubbed.
after doing some thinking, i wouldn't use 205/50 r16 on the rear, it will be too tall, i think i'd use 205/45 r16.
The car is going to need some serious lowering, especialy in the rear.
but so long as i can get the front scraping on the ground, it will look sick.
Tim, i dont think the stagger wil be legal, but neither are spacers, and Hands up here who has spacers?
i know it would look realy good if i used a 16+17 but i cant afford the rims.
thats the plan. i want to give the car a raked out look. i want the front scraping, the rear a bit higher, and when veiwed from the front, a mad nose down look.

haha ok u got me. but my spacers are very discreet.
Just get some coilovers if u want a bit of a nose down look. if you want to scrape get a euro vr6 front lip. you will get all the scrape u could ever want!
yeh would look weird on a hatch, looks not bad on jettas thou.
well my car has a fair bit of rake already, and i love it, all i want to do is get a bigger rim on the rear to accentuate the rake when veiwed from the front of rear. ultimatly the rake on the car wont change, only the total ride hight. the bigger rims will also fill the rear gaurds better.
Yeh its legal as long as the fronts match and the rears match. I think it wont look too good since the mk3 rear sits abnormally high already so larger at the back will look retarded.
