It's good to give them a clean once in a while as dirt and grime tend to settle around the threads especially where the spring perches are. Would be good to use anti-seize on the threads to prevent any corrosion, even if they are made of stainless steel or some other anti-corroding material. As for the strut internals that do the dampening and such, if they don't feel like they used to, it may be a good idea to have them checked by a professional and revalved if required. How long is the warranty period on Weitecs?

    Hey Mate,

Wow sorry i forgot i posted this =O. My concern is more because recently especially when the car is on an incline either forwards or backwards there seems to be a creaking noise that wasnt there before. When I park the car and gently push it down it makes the same noise.

Likewise when turning the wheels either direction. I was thinking perhaps the springs have settled to a point where there is no more space between them at the rear hence the metal on metal creaking.

Just to clarify the noise comes from the back suspension

In terms of warranty there is a 12month warranty on the weitecs, dont know who to bring it to as Dragan's shop is part of east coast suspensions now haha.

I was thinking of perhaps dialing the coils up abit (getting new wheels anyway) do you think it would help?

only if you are too low now and are rubbing on any thing.

if there is rubbing between say, the tyre and springs, you'll be able to see the paint worn off of the spring, for instance.

It couldn't be your handbrake/associated stuff making that creaking noise could it? I had my brakes done and they stuffed with the handbrake on my mk3 and it made similar noises to those you describe, only not when moving; just when parked.

Looks as though this could be it, just did a quick google surf with "handbrake Creak" and quite a few results came up with the exact situation I am in.

Apparently has alot to do with how much you "pull" the hand brake maybe i havent "pulled" it hard enough hahahaha

ill give it a go and if all else fails off to a suspension shop i go i guess
