Scolloped Tyres - 09 vRS TDi Wagon

    Gday,

I've purchased a second hand 09 Octavia vRS Wagon which currently has 16,000kms on it.

Tyres were a little noisy when I got it, I just put that down to the large block tread pattern of the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx tyres on it.
Tyres looked ok with even wear from a distance (and outside edges perfect), never looked at the very inside edge close enough to notice the scolloping.
I did notice the tyres were around low 20psi when I took possession of the car though.

Had it up on the hoist recently and its apparent that the rear tyres are scolloping quite badly on the inside.
Leading edge of the tread block is high with trailing edge low.

No point rotating these onto the front as they will be extremely rowdy so im wondering whether I -
1 - Just keep driving on them as they are.
2 - Swap rear tyres left to right (even out the wear)
3 - Strip the tyres and refit them to run the same direction but on the other side of the car. ie when the tyres start to scollop again it will again be leading edge high, trailing edge low both on the inside and outside. Then when worn to a certain point strip flip etc...

When i wear these buggers out i'll be sure to rotate the ones I buy every 5000kms.

    any ideas peoples?

    cheers Drew

Well dont for buying an amazing car!

I work at a VW Skoda garage and see this alot, even on cars <5000k. First port of call is to rotate and see the difference? then get a wheel align???

Did you buy it from a dealer? Take it back!! complain! they should replace them but will probably use bob jane all rounders.
