    "Re-inventing the wheel"

    http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=4729309

Basically, the guy wants to make a custom set of wheels for himself, using Gotti 3-piece wheel parts (outers and inners) as a basis. Some highlights:

12.5" x 12" aluminium block - best price he could find was $950USD. This is just the base material!!!

Test mount, tyres have no air, and no load is placed onto the wood cut-out:

One of many designs he mocked up.

His work is still in progress! I am hanging on to see what he comes up with!

    $950 isn't a bad price. He's probably using 6061 or something similar.

Pretty standard procedure making wood or synthetic prototype material prototypes. Those blue lines are where 3 separate pieces have been bonded together to gain the width and height needed.

Looks the goods. Looks like he'll be doing the work on a 3 axis CNC machining centre.
