I have the standard 16" mags fitted to my multivan. They have some curb rash from the previous owner that is a bit ugly. Is it possible to use a body filler type material on them to repair the scratches then get them repainted in a new colour? I was thinking very dark grey or black.

Sounds like an interesting product, have you or anyone on the forums ever used it?
I did a quick search and found this Selleys product that sounds very similar. I think it would be perfect for Aluminium rims etc.

Unsure on price. How much is the Durabond 7025?

That also sounds interesting, I wonder how strong and hard it is if it can be machined.
There is the possibility of getting a wheel repairer to do it for you....there was a thread here SOMEWHERE where a mkV owner got one of his wheels repaired and it looked fab, but I can't remember who did it for him. Repainting wheels isn't too expensive if you don't do anything fancy with them, and I'm sure you could find some repairer that would be happy to fix up your wheel for you. Oh and there's also the option of powdercoating wheels; a few of the members here have had that done and that's quite cheap!

Thanks for the info fellas. I might stop into a tyre shop and see what they have to say. Powder coating sounds ok.

Just sand down the scratches and use normal body filler guys. That alloy putty is massive overkill - you're just trying to fill a scratch after all.

Just on this - I've got a couple minor rim scratches I'm game to try repairing myself. I like the idea of these kits that contain everything I'll need - no need to visit supercheap and potentially buy the wrong 'ingredients'. Has anyone tried them? Does the silver match well to VW wheels (I have a mk5 GTI)?
