    Opinions on wheels

I've been looking at getting some wheels from Tirerack but I cant make up my mind.. I want gloss black rims, I think they look nice on reflex silver.

Dont know whether to get ones with a machined silver lip. Here's some links to silver golfs with similar wheels. I think the Breyton ones look similar to Burgs wheels.

Well I ordered the BE by Breyton wheels from Tirerack. Will definitely post up some pics when I get them. I started noticing way to many commo's getting around with black rims and massive chrome lips so I decided to go for something different.

    The BE's look insanely good.

Yeah it seems like they have only just started making wheels for VW/Audi.

What do you guys reckon about running 235/40 tyres on a 18x8 rim? My friend reckons the wheels arent wide enough and I will get sidewall flex.

That what I was going to do, but the tyre dealer was worried about the tyre clearance (we used 225s), but said the 8" width was ok for 235s.

I fitted 235/40 18 to 18x8 ET45 to MK V GTI, no probs and look good. The extra half inch width over original with 45 offset, the wheels fill the guard much better without protruding.

Yeah I used a wheel calculator and couldn't see anything amiss. Clearance wise I think I should be fine, have heard of other people running them with no rubbing even with moddest drops. I was more worried about them feeling loose.

Good to hear. I got the wheels this morning so hopefully I'll have them fitted soon and some pics up.
