Opinions on FK coilovers? mk2 Golf

As far as coilover options go for MK2 Golfs, there are a few. Since the car will be track focussed, I don't want to skimp out on the suspension, so I was going to get KW V2's for $1560 from ECS.

However, they also have FK Silverline X coilovers that have Koni shocks, for $1150. These are height and damper adjustable as well apparently.

Should I spend the premium and get the KW's? The car won't see a lot of K's each year, I'm just looking for a quality product that I won't have to replace after a few years.

OEM / Performance Parts for Audi, BMW, Mercedes Benz, Mini, Porsche & Volkswagen - ECS Tuning

I'm happy to buy from somewhere else as well.

    Cheers,
    Tim

I had FK Koni Sports on my mk1 back in the uk, handy to be able to firm them up for the track days but was too hard(even on full soft)really for a daily drive.

Thanks for the feedback. The car won't be a daily, just a weekend car, so comfort isn't important, pretty sure poly bushes will make their way in somewhere too.

There's a $400 difference between the FK and KW sets, so yeah a very welcome saving..

You're probably better off just getting a quality cup kit with adjust shocks and stiff springs for like half of a coilover set up. IMO.

Thinking more function rather than form. The money you save can be put towards stickier tyres perhaps.

Some cup kits have a little bit of adjustment in them (maybe just rears though)

Yeah I've definitely considered them, but haven't really looked too closely, I've always heard coils are the way to go for what it's being used for.. Happy to check them out in detail though for sure.

Something like this H&R Sport Cup Kit, lowering the front 5cm, rear 4.3cm. At $620, it's almost half the price... Not sure if it offers damper adjustment though.

remember ECS are the only mob that sell suspension

I'd be looking for something that's bilstein or Koni, about a 2" drop and of course, adjustable. I'd try and find a set with stiffer springs, rather than just 'street' springs

just what I'd look at though

I'm trying to save on shipping by buying it all in the one place lol. What other places sell performance discs/pads and suspension kits?

I've been reading some good reviews on the FK's, so I think I might just stick with them.
