What sort of wheels are we talking about?
Have seen guys taking a mm or two of material off the caliper, but its not something you just want to muck around with
just bought some custom rims from a great bloke, unfortuantly the rims will scrape on the calipers and i was wondering if there was any other way of clearing them, (only the front), without using spacers obviously, at the moment they have very little clearance like 2mm, but if i need to change the pads they will definetly scrape.... :'( any solutions????
On his GTi he had no clearance, mines a mk5 FSI pretty stock

Obviously the wrong offset or the wrong rim diameter . You do realise spacers are illegal on the road.
Perhaps not a good buy.

OP, you say they scrape in one sentence and then there's 2mm clearance mentioned in another? Will the wheel rotate when bolted up or not?
Gavin
it does currently clear with the current pads, but probably not with new ones.
also the guy says i can take them back if i wish, whats reccomended??
btw im not gonna use spacers no matter what
ok will do thanks for the awesome feedback, ill arrange for that to happen, thanks guys
rookie error haha
Offset isnt the factor that decides if a wheel will clear or not, its the design of the wheel
But wrong offset for that design
Why not get a new set of pads (you'll need them sometime) and confirm the clearance (or lack, thereof) before returning the rims?
