    mk6 wheel bearings

Noticed a slight vibration a while back, occurs most noticeably at speeds of about >100. Wasn't all that concerned and was due for new tyres so I thought it could be a wheel out of balance or something like that.

Anyway, got new tyres and a wheel alignment today. Forgot to mention the vibration but the tech said to me that he thinks the right rear wheel bearing might be on its way out because it felt a bit dodgy.

Could be the cause of the vibration I guess.

Anyway, does that seem normal for a car with 98k on it?
Does anyone have any idea of cost of repair?
Is it worth doing the rear left as well? Fronts too?

Have replaced a few in the past.

Usually a decent pot hole or gutter strike is enough to damage them.

Hmmm ok i do recall a couple of decent pot holes recently.
So it's probably not a symptom of general wear and tear over time? Reason I ask is if it's a wear and tear thing I would probably get them all replaced at the same time, but otherwise I'd just do one.
    Any idea on rough cost?

I'd have to look it up, to be honest.

They're around $250-$300 from memory. You need to order off the VIN, as there's variations.

You also need an M18 multi-spline socket to get the bolt out. Providing the bolt comes out easy, they're about a 30-45min job all up.

Oh ok, that's not so bad. The look on the guy's face at the tyre shop when I asked him for a rough price made me think I'd have to pimp out my wife to afford it.

Is it worth getting one of those 28 point steering and suspension checks from Pedders or wherever? Would they pick that up?
