Im sure there are a set of GT TDI springs sitting around somewhere too, that would be the safest option IMO.
Rightio - LOTS and LOTS of posts and threads on this so can we please settle this with a bit of arguing (i mean, discussion)
Can stock Mk5 GTI springs (front and rear) go directly into a Mk5 TDI without any modification or trickiness? Will they make this supposed knocking sound once fitted?
ordinarily you'd think they'd be fine, but then think of the weight of the diesel engine and how it affects everything else. Plus it seems some folks have noticed a fitment issue around the strut tops of the fronts.
so, lets work this one out as I am sure there are stacks of GTI springs sitting around doing not much and could easily be chucked into another car - if they do indeed fit.

AFAIK the GT TDI springs aren't as sweet as the GTI springs, which in turn aren't as good as aftermarkets like Eibachs....

But they are designed for the extra weight of a diesel engine.

howdy all
have cancelled the gti springs.
I phoned Pedders and got a quote on four corners of Pedders Sports springs fitted at $595 and a rear whiteline sway bar fitted at $330. total time 4.5 hours for springs and bar.
Now i am starting to think its just not worth it. a Forum member advised looking to pick up a set of Koni Yellows for about $800 (maybe ebay) and i could dial in the rear stiffness to act a bit like a rear sway bar and they'd be great shocks instead of mucking around with springs. anyone have any good feedback?
