On the wheel somewhere will be a VW part number. (Could be on the inside)
Hi,
As you maybe aware from my previous posts, I am the proud new owner of a Golf Mk4 (GL 1.6)
It is in such original condition that 3/5 of the tyres are the original Continental tyres the car was delivered with. (175/80R14)
I have the original delivery paperwork from the dealer which states that the options it was originally fitted with on delivery were - window tint and 14" alloy wheels.
My question is, does anyone know (from the pic) whether these are VW wheels or aftermarket wheels and how can I tell?
What size tyres can I fit that are wider than the original 175/80R14 and have a lower aspect ratio to get away from the "tractor tyre" 80 profile tyres on the original wheels?
Thanks for your help

They look like the standard VW ones. What makes you ask?
Hi thanks for the info.
what makes me ask...just curious
wondering what size tyres I could fit on them rather than the 80 profiles that are currently on it????
If you want a thiner sidewall, you need to get larger wheels otherwise everything like your speedo, odometer and any other whizzy things that take readings from the rolling diameter of yoiur wheels will be incorrect . . . upgrade time![]()
I may soon have Mk4 GTI rims up for sale....
