Lowered suspension options for MK4 GTI

    Hi all,
since putting some nice new 18's on my car, now I need to look at lowering it a bit too, probably 30 or 40mm

I've had experience with Koni before and was looking at their Sport Kit http://www.koni.com/53.html but wondering if anyone has experience with other options?

Obviously coilovers are an option, however given the car is a daily driver I don't really like the idea of a jaw crunching harsh ride. I already find that the oem suspension is quite tough.

    What sort of car?
You would have researched last time and you decided Koni was the go. If you were happy do it again /thread.

If not, im sure (even on this page) there are a couple of threads outlinging what you can expect from different setups.

Ill take a stab at a mkv GTI. Jump onto golfmkv.com and search for "whitejames" in the austrlian section. He as conducted research/testing on all types of brands/combinations/set-ups.

Sorry, car is a MK4 GTI, thought I'd put that in the topic

Reason I ask, is last time was for a different car. Research and experience counts for a lot and every car/combination is different, hence why I asked for peoples experience rather than buying something unknown to me on this vehicle.

Well Pierre is on 19s, 10 inch wide at the back. Not sure what suspension he is running but when he gets back form OS/logs on here im sure he could provide better feedback. After that id guess bboysparx who had 18 inch A8 reps...

Edit your title to grab the mk4 boys.

Also, update your location. If in Sydney speak to Dragan at inMotive about KW etc...

hard to help with little to no information!

If you don't wanna spend too much, I'd say go for the conservative spring/struts combo. You may not need to upgrade your struts (especially if you think your ride is tough enough) so even the springs on their own might work in your favour. I'd look at Eibach springs as a lot of people (including myself) use them, and I personally love how they handle. My springs are matched to Koni struts and I love the sharpness of the ride; it reacts well and it holds well too.

Unfortunately I can't give much advice on different brands of springs because I don't know them haha.

    Hope that helps
