Knocking noise - MK5/MK4 suspension help please

recently i've had a knocking noise coming from the rear of my car. its slightly random as to when it occurs, but occurs every 10 seconds or more, sometimes multiple times in a few seconds. its not just when going over bumps, sometimes just does it driving down a flat road. I cant figure out what on earth it is. i've had the rear struts out twice now and inspected the spring and its perch and cant see where it would be coming from.

has anyone had the same problem on a mk4 or 5 (same suspension setup in the rear) ?

I'm on H&R coilovers with standard swaybar at the rear; never removed or touched.

dont suppose it could be to do with the camber bolts at the rear? thats the only thing that has been touched by someone other than me.

i know this is a hard problem to diagnose without being in person but any help would be greatly appreciated.... its driving me nuts

    thanks

Give us a bit more info on the knocking itself....what sort of sound is it making, is it loud or quiet, does it make a sound on a loop (ie around a wheel, every time it reaches a position) or is it just random knocking every 10ish seconds, can you feel it, etc?

Exhaust mounts come loose? Maybe the swaybar has dodged up? Who knows, that's a tough one man

i've kicked the exhaust to see if it knocks on anything but its alll good and tight in its mounts.

i've been thinking swaybars but it seems strange since they havent been touched

my advice (despite having no experience with anything) would be to pick a free day, get the car's ass in the air and get under and wobble everything about and see if you can find something loose. Check all the parts of the exhaust, fuel tank, everywhere around the rear wheels, swaybar, etc. If you don't find it then, you should just write your car off LOL
