check out these rims on EBAY... What will be needed to fit them to a VR6 golf? Im not sure what stud pattern they have, im still waiting for a reply. but even if they bolt on, they are going to need 23mm spacers on the front and longer studs, right?
I am hopeless and have no idea...

Use a wheel offset calculator (google) to calculate the inner and outer clearances for the wheels.
The smallest size H&R adapter is 15mm, but you must have cavity backed wheels, as I found out later.
Lower the offset by 15mm in this case, the fronts would be ET35. Plug that in the calc and measure what it gives you back.
Next size is 20mm, then 25 and so on.
Alternatively, some folks here have used Adaptec Speedware in the States to make custom adapters in any size (smallest is 15mm afaik) for about $450 shipped.
YES, you can make those fit, they are 'adapter friendly', as Mal pointed out.
at a guess, 25mm adapters will work nicely (all round) but depends on what look you're after, what tyres you're going to run, how low, etc etc etc. lots of things to consider, but yep, they'll work.
