    Golf GTI (MK5)

    Hello, only new to forum. Hopefully be ordering white MK5 GTI very very soon was just doing a little research and can't find any details on the offset and stud pattern of the standard wheels (17x7.5's), could someone help me out please?

    Was looking at these two wheels (17x7)

    Will be lowering the car with H&R springs 30mm (also f/r sway bar upgrade) should I expect any scrubbing problems? Will be using the speedy rims for road and the standards for track.

    edit: One more question, any probs putting the standard rubber (225's??) on a 7 inch wide rim rather than the 7.5 inch??

    Gooday Hilton K, I have just fitted BBS ch 17x7.5s on my GTI a couple of weeks ago. The pics are in the photo section, gtigrl took me shopping topic. I now wish I had fitted 18s as the wheels now look like 16s compared to the standards! I am running the original tyres on them. To go to 17x7s might seem like a backward move? The stud pattern is 5x102 and et40 offset std. Check out the pics and then make a decision. It is a good choice if you do go a mk5 GTI. They are an amazing carn I love mine 110%!

    IMO....wheel choice is extremely important, especially if you are going to spend so much on a new car! If you want to change from the standard alloys, I would go for 18x8s as a minimum to make it worth while! You can achieve the WOW factor if you take your time and look at heaps of pics to see what style you like! As an example, I think the Audi RS6 alloys are a great look, don't cost the Earth and are available on ebay in Aus! Doesn't hurt to lower them either

    Tassie's right... When you spend that much on a new car the extra $$$ are worth it to give the "standout" factor. The GTI already has distinctive front end looks and nice wheels would personalise it.

    5x102 Seems a strange pattern. Reason i was going for the stock size was so they didn't rub when the car was lowered, it seems as though 18's will fit nice with no rubbing when fitted with H&R springs

    Okay just found these and love em in 18x8 5x112 et 30 Only thing I'm worried about is the difference in offset, would they rub on the inner suspension because of the smaller offset...
