    Fitting coilovers??

Hopefully my coilovers should be arriving this week , so want to get as much info on changing them over from the original suspension before i get them. They are for my mk1 and i just want to know if there is anything i should be doing that i may not think of?? In my mind it sounds as simple as unboting old, then bolting in the new, then getting a wheel alignment (but hey newbie mechanic wannabees always think things are easier than they are until they cant get it back together). Nothing ever seems to be this simple so i am guessing there is more to doing it. Any pointers or info for me guys??

here are the coilovers i have bought.

Yep, it's pretty much that simple.

If you have shagged strut top mounts, you can replace them at the same time, but it's not nessecary, since they're pretty easy to replace on thier own anyways.

Two bolts on the lower coilover body (17mm), two at the top that hold the strut top (13mm) and the big nut in the middle of the strut top. that's the one that needs the 21mm nad allen key/flat blade screwdriver. I made a tool for this, come pick it up when you're ready to attempt it.

at the back, there's a 17mm bolt on the bottom, and a 17 mm bolt on the top, you need an adj wrench or something sim to hold the 'tab' on the top of the strut while you undo the top strut nut.

    Don't think I've missed anything

Check out any of the suspension pivot rubbers, strut mounts etc, replace them when you install the coillies..unless you already done that..
