Faulty Bilstein Coilovers - Rubbish After Sales Support

Has anyone else had rubbish after sales support from a certain US supplier? (Details available by PM)

I purchased a set of PSS10 coilovers, and 6 months into use, a rear shock dropped most of it's oil. Apart from a token "sorry, I'll get to that right away", there's been no action from the supplier in 3 months of emails.

    Hi,

Welcome to the perils of shopping from overseas. Yes you might be able to get significantly cheaper prices but you're not saving much when it comes time to claim warranty. Often there isn't any. You essentially have no consumer protection.

This is why if this sort of situation is undesirable it is far better to buy locally and support a local guy.

You could try sending it to Bilstein in Sydney for a rebuild $$$, find someone to rebuild it here in Brisbane or you could buy another one.

BTW, be aware that it is possible the shock is not stuffed. Bilsteins like many other high pressure gas shocks can weep/leak and it does not take much oil to look like a disaster has occurred.

Well to add to this, I'm afraid it appears to be a Bilstein problem.

My Bilstein snapped a coil spring clean in half. You can see it's a manufacturing fault. I received no local Bilstein support over here in NZ.
Even after providing them the part numbers. I eventually took it up with Bilstein US (as I don't speak German)
As soon as they found out I was not first owner they basically could not be bother any further. I never asked them to repair for free, but at the very least help source the parts.

I ended up dealing with a company in the UK, called GNJ Motorsports. There service was outstanding to say the least. I ended still waiting almost 7 weeks for the springs to be dispatched from Bilstein Germany. None the less, they were helpful and informative. Kept me up to date, as to where the springs progress etc was.

I have however also dealt with DBC directly, The only way I got it resolved was going directly to BSH and they where helpful enough to ship out incorrect and replacement parts.

Thanksmate, unfort Syd shocks advised it was a scored adjuster shaft (ingress of grit from a dodgy seal) end result was a a new unit needed to be purchased
