ok let me rephrase this - I want a tyre I can stretch on a 7 inch rim - tyrestretch.com is not even helping! Anyone got some suggestions? Losing my mind here!

    185/35 would be my choice.

    165 is silly imo.

185/35/17 Nankangs. Do it. As someone said there are smaller (like 165/35 or something ridiculous) to get the real stretched look, but in my opinion crazy stretched tiny tyres on already thin wheels looks silly, not to mention is quite dangerous on a mk3 vr6 as they are rated for a lot less weight then will be put on them. Knowing how easy it is to break traction in the 205/50 stock tyres with only a few performance mods, im guessing the car would be useless with 165 wide tyres

    185/35 on a 7

or go 195/40/17 maybe. the 195/45 is going to make the diameter a fair bit bigger then standard mk3 size anyway
