Existing tyres on new wheels

I think 18 x 8 et 45 will sit flush (pretty close to). I've seen this in a set of Lenso rims on a Golf and the front was bang on!!

Got any wheels in mind?

I'm really warming to the BBS CH again now, but the dollars are probably going to make it tough to do wheels + springs any time soon on my end.

Liking the CH more & more. I know you mentioned they were somewhat chunky but to me that just means 'easier to clean'

Yeah I am leaning that way too, although considering the OEM route with black Talladegas as well.

Thought I'd compare 'my' stock GTI with BBS CH in 18s on 'VWR' suspension.

Hey fellas

So here's the latest. My friend drives and Audi and wanted a set of VMR's so i asked if i could try them on my car before I commit.

Lucky i did because the photos speak for themselves.

Just a thought - and I don't think it changes my mind on sticking with 18 x 8 (or 19 x 8 if I go Talladega) - were these VMRs with a 45 offset? I thought some Audis ran a lower offset.. ie. it would extend out more on a Golf.

Yeah mate, VMR's were 18x8.5 et45.

Audis do run a lower offset hence the need for spacers.

That's a winner - definitely a good alternative for those after that design AND worried about the width/offsets of the VMR/GTCs.

Looking at those pictures, I would lean toward the alloy colour (lower picture)

I'm starting to think that dark wheels look good on cars with a light colour, black wheels on a white car
and light coloured wheels look good on cars with a dark colour, alloy wheels on a black car

I hear ya, and after staring at wheels for so long I am starting to feel that way too. I can get those in alloy/silver, or the ones in the pic, and as below, are actually a graphite - which I think is a nice compromise between the two 'extremes' and sort of ties in with the plastic skirts/valance on the GTI, although the colour match isn't right (but doesn't need to be).
