    coilover help!

so ov recently installed ta technix coilovers to my bora 4motion, and I'm experiencing a rubbing/knocking noise in the front. I thought the coilovers were too low so I've wound them 15mm up from fully wound down. but the noise is still there.

I've looked through recent forums and everyone has a different opinion on what it is with no actual conclusion. I don't know if anyone else has experienced this but by the sounds of it, it's not good.

I've read different things like sway bars rubbing on drive shaft, dog bone mounts ruined, cv joints.

I'm in Melbourne, so I'm happy to take it to anyone who has any idea of how to help me!
    thanksssss

wont be sway bar on drive shaft in a 4mo bora

when you say wound down all the way, do you mean you have the helpers out too?
if you are wound all the way down in the front it could be wheels/tyres interfering with the strut/adjuster/spring
because if you actually have them all the way down the car must be near touching the ground from what I have seen of trickysimon's bora

did you replace strut top bearings and bushes when installing the coilovers. thats always the first thing to look for.

nah I didn't replace the strut top bearings and bushes.
although when installing, I did notice the sway bar sitting on the control arm as i raised the bottom to the mount. could that be the problem?
and if so, do you recon shorter drop links would fix that?

would you be keen to have a geez?

just incase you didn't get my message and for other people's reference, nothing's touching or rubbing anywhere except for the sway bar.

is it just me, or does my bora have the wrong control arms? is there any difference in the 2lt model control arms and the 4motion model? apart from the drop link mounts

Hey mate. I've had noises from my coilovers, just posted a new thread on it. Did you find out what's going on with yours?

Have you listened to it while lifting the body up? I noticed while I was jacking mine up that the noise comes from the shafts. Here's a video I took:

found out what the noise was, and was completely uncoilover related.
after I fitted the coilovers, my wheels rubbed on the inside, as in they were touching the adjusters on the front a good 10-15mm. so I chucked on some 25mm spacers I had lying around. fixed the problem, they didn't rub. I did have to roll the guards though.

problem not solved, still had the noise. which brought me to the attention of the sway bar rubbing. installed shorter drop links, sway bar was all clear but, still had a noise.

in the end, turns out the spacers I put on, had been threaded. and the holes the bolts go through we're oval shaped. the noise was the whole wheel and spacer moving around.

so bought new 20mm h&r spacers from ecs and problem solved.
    sorry that wasn't any help!
