Lightbulb can this fit 18x8 et40 wheels & 225/40/18 tyres for MKV

i am interested to get these wheels on sale
DTM Racing Wheels - EOFY Stocktake sale! only $799/SET! BARGAIN!

it seems like it has some aggressive offset of et40.
some says it will clear mkv golf, but some says no....
currently running hpa shs coilover and lowered almost to max.

i like the DTM wheels but i am not so sure about the offset.....

    any advise would be appreciated.

    cheers

Have you run the offset calculator? depends what tyres you want to run as well if its getting close to the arch.
isnt stock wheels like 8" et52? so the wheel will come outwards like 12mm which isnt that much especially if you are fair low.
but then again, i dont know mkvs...

No problems at all, you will be fine. The tyre is the right LR and you will have a nice aggressive look..

If your in Syd your can raid the "whore stash" and test fit. I've got a set of wheels that are 19x 8 with an et40.

I'm running 18x8 karthoums with a 52 offset which is the widest available oem wheel vw Australia sells.

You will have 12mm extra in the rear which will mean u will sit perfectly flush with the top of the rear guard.

At a guess in the front you will be either flush or sit out of the guard by like 2mm.

IMO it will be perfect fitment.

Oh and I'm pretty low on fk coil overs, my only reason for not going lower is that my current tyres are too fat and scrub so later on I will be running a little stretch to clear the inner guards.

according to the calculator you'll have 1mm less inside... and 11mm extra outside...

i'm currently looking for some 18x8" ET45 (offset) for my pirelli... and i'm being told to go with the 18x8.5" ET45, so even wider but this may require guard rolling on the front (which i'm not keen on) and some camber on the back (which i am keen on).

You can even run an 18x8 et35 with some camber dialed in!!

18x8 offset +48 with 225 40 18 is the safest way without any rubbing issue at the front when cornering hard assuming the car is lowered.. any more aggressive than this, guard work / fender screw mod / camber plate is required...

mk5 and mk6 front fender clearance is similar. i've asked many mk5/6 GTI owners locally to confirm my thesis.

i actually met a guy who has the DTM123 set in his Mk5 GT and run on 235 45 18 tyres (cheaper than 225 40 18...) and almost got defected a few times because the wheels / tyres were protruding outside the fenders... btw his is not lowered though..

but, if you're after aggressive look, don't let this stop your imagination sky is the limit :p
