    can anyone tell me what these wheels are?

    what are they and would they fit on my 81 mk1????

    They'd fit on your mk1 in terms of PCD, but they (in my opinion) don't suit it at all. They're a bit big for a mk1 and the design isn't flattering on a mk1. Also, depending on the look you want these would prob sit too far in (offset wise). I'm sorry I can't help you on what type these are, Rodney Jane Racing?

    17's are getting pretty big. you'd have to run a really low profile, and wont be able to lower the car much. but they will bolt on. a 16 inch rim is pretty big on a mk1. whether you'll be able to turn your wheels is a different story.

    they do look good, but surely it puts a massive strain on steering components, ball joints, bearings, track rod ends etc.

    Not to mention the already stiff MK1 steering.

    I bet you didn't keep them on for too long...

    not really, they were only 7" wide with a ET40, the only effect it had was the rolling diamater, no bearings, steering components or ball joints were harmed in the making, and ohh i had them on for over 8 years
